Client: RustavOil
Industry: Oil & Energy
Project Duration: April 22, 2024 – June 12, 2024
Service Provided: Power BI Reporting System Integration
Recommendation Letter
Overview: RustavOil, a leading player in the oil and energy sector, needed a modern, automated reporting solution to replace their legacy Excel-based reports. The objective was clear: build a real-time, interactive reporting system that would be reliable, scalable, and tightly integrated with their existing ERP infrastructure.
Challenge
Prior to our collaboration, RustavOil’s reporting process was heavily reliant on manual operations using Excel files, which were time-consuming, error-prone, and lacked flexibility for business decision-makers. They needed a robust BI system that would:
Integrate with SAP Business One
Fetch and update official currency exchange rates from the National Bank of Georgia
Deliver frequent data refreshes
Provide user-friendly dashboards with the ability to filter and pivot data by currency, period, VAT inclusion, and more
Solution
DataStudio partnered with RustavOil starting from April 22, 2024. Within less than two months, we delivered a fully operational Power BI reporting platform, officially launched on June 12, 2024.
The solution included:
Seamless integration with SAP Business One and the NBG exchange rate API
Automated refresh cycles every 3 hours
10+ fully interactive dashboards for multiple departments, including:
Sales Analysis
Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Procurement Insights
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Logistics
Financial Metrics
Embedded visual and tabular views on every report
Advanced filters and selectors for real-time interactivity (e.g., GEL vs USD, monthly vs quarterly view, VAT inclusion toggle)
Result
Since deployment, RustavOil has fully transitioned to Power BI-based reporting, eliminating the need for Excel files. Reports are now real-time, reliable, and automated — with minimal need for manual intervention. The switch significantly improved visibility, decision-making speed, and reporting accuracy across departments.
We’re proud to say that RustavOil has never gone back to Excel since the launch, and the company remains fully satisfied with the performance and usability of the solution.
